COMMUNITY
At defeatHIV, we are dedicated to stepping up our efforts in addressing the issues that come up for people around curing HIV. This is by no means an easy feat, but through cooperation and community empowerment we believe we can facilitate progress in this area. We are always striving to make a difference, and invite you to learn more and lend your support.
The defeatHIV Collaboratory is privileged to have a strong, diverse and engaged community advisory board (CAB) that has successfully worked with defeatHIV leadership and staff since 2013.
Our previous community events and forums have proven to be hugely popular over the last seven years, often with over 100 people in attendance.
Previous guests include Carl June, Robert Siliciano, David Baltimore, Françoise Barré-Sinoussi, Gero Hütter, Timothy Ray Brown, Gary Steinkohl, (Boston Patient B) and others.
Our multi-disciplinary framework evaluates socio-behavioral and ethical implications of cell and gene therapy research and effects of curative interventions on the people most affected by HIV.
With our community partners, we are always looking for more effective ways to reach underrepresented, affected community members and provide safe space where they can voice their concerns and get their questions about HIV cure research answered.
Through our webinars, we make HIV cure research available to a global audience.
Every webinar is recorded, streamed and archived on our YouTube channel & Facebook page.
Social Media
Through our social media platforms, we have successfully implemented large-scale, low-cost engagement efforts and globally reached many individuals who would not otherwise be engaged in cure research. We post our accomplishments, research news, highlights from scientific conferences, and more.
